Nothing replaces the experience of walking on campus and seeing the student body in the place they call home. However, during these challenging times of Covid-19 this hasn’t been possible. The college search process has changed during these unprecedented times, at least temporarily. Fact “Visiting” campus helps students understand the physical layout of the school, gives them the sense of the area, and allows them to interact with students and faculty.

Change Since Covid-19, in-person visits have not been possible in most areas of the country. The good news is that colleges have done a terrific job of uploading updated, virtual campus tours. Some colleges have rolled out specialty campus tours as well for students studying engineering, healthcare, etc.

Benefit Since there are more virtual ways to explore campus, students have more opportunities than ever before to “tour” campus. And, maybe the biggest plus, there are no transportation or hotel costs!

Information Sessions

Fact Information sessions give students an overview of what the campus has to offer academically and socially and what admissions are looking for in a good-fit applicant.

Change Now colleges are offering virtual information sessions and some schools are offering major specific information sessions as well (e.g. engineering, architecture, performing arts, etc.). Some information sessions are live, giving students the opportunity to ask questions in real time. Please note: these live sessions require advance registration.

Benefit Virtual info sessions offer the same benefits as virtual tours. They allow families to save time and money as well as give students the ability to watch sessions more than once at their convenience.

Change Since students are unable to meet the interviewer in-person, colleges are offering online interviews to students who live near and far from campus. In the past these online interviews were reserved for mostly international students or students where visiting campus was a hardship.

Benefit Many students feel more comfortable in front of a computer screen in their own home speaking to new people.
